Aqueduct 2/14 Pick 3 Plays

We have some Valentine's racing today at Aqueduct and we are looking to remain HOT. We again will be focusing on taking down a pair of pick 3 plays, as well as our "Play of the Day." I will be locked into races 4-6 and Big Pete will close out the ticket with races 7-9. Tweet us and let us know if you have any opinions we may not have touched on below; we would love to discuss. Little Pete "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
I really like both of Chris Englehart's horses in this race and leaning towards (3) Cavaradossi to run the winning race in here. I think both of these horses will be able tos sit behind some early speed and then when the stretch drive comes they both will be shooting from the outside. I like the post position for (3) Cavaradossi to find a rail position and that saved ground will benefit this horse.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
Kimmel is having a meet and he appears to have (7) WHICHWAYTOMALIBU in the right spot. He couldn’t get to the lead last time which may be why we see a jock switch today. With not much speed signed on, Pablo will want to go right from the gate. The outside draw isn’t great but I think they can clear and settle on the rail. If they reach the turn on the lead, there doesn’t appear to be too many closing kicks in this bunch.
We’ll use (6) a Vow Of Beauty and (8) Starship Empire underneath.

We’ll also use WHICHWAYTOMALIBU in R1 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
Two big scratches in here with (1) Foley Square and (7) Dashi. I then have to focus my attention on (2) Mosienko who is coming in off a long layoff and Linda Rice's stats with these types of horses is intimidating to leave off the ticket. The horse has been training consistently well and the Cancel/Rice combination has been deadly this meet. (4) Happy Sophia could be the horse that benefits the most from the scratches and could find the lead and not look back. (6) Gentle Annie should also be forwardly placed in this short field and that head start could be a winning move.

Race 5:
(6) Mo Zone is my top pick in here with his closing ability. I am anticipating some early speed in this mile race and thinking the field is asking for a closer to win this race. I am playing Jorge Vargas to be able to sit behind the pace and fan out wide come stretch drive. (1) Hammerin Aamer is experienced and looks to be in relatively good form coming into this one. This horse has a nice post position and his running style should suit well for this race. (3) Blugrascat's Smile is also very experienced and I feel like this horse almost runs once a week. I think Manny will be able to find a nice trip in here and could have enough horse late to get up to the wire first. (5) Ekhtibaar will be

Race 6:
(2) Frosted Bourbon was another one of my top picks that was scratched out, so had to re-evaluate. (1) Rosey's Peach is an interesting play in here for me. I will throw out last time out and look at how this horse found the early lead in longer races. If this horse is able to work out a front running trip in this six furlong race, then this horse may have enough in the tank to hold on. (8) Vive La Liberty has been the most consistent on track and this distance seems to be the distance she wants to run. This horse should be aggressively ridden from the gate and could run away with this one late. (3) Tremayne showed enough last time out to warrant a play from me. This horse should show more improvement this time out and has redemption on the brain against (8) Vive La Liberty. My last play is going to be a bit of a price in the firster (7) Fortune's Sister. I like the workouts leading in and this horse could run better than her odds in here.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
Favorite (5) CHARLIE FIVE O ran well in the mud but settle for 2nd. He looks faster than the others but he’ll get pressured most of the way. I like the one who finished right behind him (2) CONFORMIST couldn’t last with Charlie late but now he returns to a dry track. He has the fastness race on paper and Franco chooses him over (6) DOCTOR K today. Rudy subs in Maragh and the instructions will be GO. This Speightster will try to steal it. The only closer in here is (7) TAINO. He beat an easy group last time but if all the others go at it up front, he can come late to the party.

Race 8:
Pletcher has a pair and both look like the most likely winner. I’ll lean more on (6) UNO. Another Uncle Mo influence should like the extra ground he gets today. An awkward start put him farther back early, then tried to sustain a late run before running out of gas. (4) PERFECT MUNNINGS beat him as the 2nd choice. I see these two going at through the stretch like they do in the morning workouts. (2) DANCING BUCK made it look easy last time. If they leave him alone up front, he’ll be a handful to reel in.

Race 9:
(2) BETSY BLUE will be short odds to take the finale and I can’t argue that. She’ll likely sit off the speeds and make a similar run as she did last time. (1) DELAWARE DESTINY and (6) BUSTIN BAY are the two speeds to worry about. Bustin gets L1 and may forget to stop and Destiny cuts back to 6Fand picks up Davis. I’ll try to beat them all with (3) WILLOW GROVE. She ran sneaky good last time as she tried to close from the back on a track where speed was holding up well that day. Carmouche stays with her and they may find themselves closer to the leaders and come with a run.
