We are back to live racing at Aqueduct and we are looking to start off the Valentine's weekend off with a couple of cashed tickets. It is an 8 race card in which we will cover each of those races. I will be focusing in on races 3-5 for a pick 3 play and Big Pete will be focusing on races 6-8 for the late pick 3. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on the other two races to have you covered. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R3: 1, 4, 6
R4: 2, 3, 6, 7
R5: 3, 4, 6, 8
Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:
R6: 2, 5, 7
R7: 2, 3, 4, 8
R8: 1, 5, 6, 8
Cost: $48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
(2) Hey It's Tati showed enough guts last time out to warrant a play here. This horse fought off her foes late down the stretch and I believe more of the same in this one. Manny should be able to find the lead in here and not let others pass her late.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
$3.00 Ex 2 w/ 1,3,6 Cost: $9.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
There’s no doubt that (2) CRICK likes to finish 2nd, but that’s about to change. Rudy claimed her back in November and has quietly improved over the last two races. First time out after the claim was in the slop so we’ll forgive her. The second time, Rudy stretched her out and she fought them the whole way. Now they cut back to 6F which is what this Giant Surprise wants to do. Vargas, Jr just needs to hold on.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
We’ll use him with (7) Grape Therapy and (8) Remoane underneath
$ 7.00 Exacta 2 w/ 7, 8 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Crick to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
(2) Ice Princess and (5) Maiden Beauty look solid in the 3rd
$ 7.00 Double 2 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 3:
(4) Ice Princess looks to be the horse to beat in here and the workout leading in is extremely strong to handle this field. I do like the post position of (1) CustomerExperience who I think will be able to find a nice spot on the rail early and be able to run a strong race late. My last play will be the outside horse in (6) Love and Love who I think will benefit from a dry track and if she runs to her race two back, then I think this horse has a strong case late.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,4,6 Cost: $12.00
Race 4:
(6) Mia Bea Star should be able to find the early lead in here and not look back. I am anticipating a lot of horses looking to save ground in here to have a convincing stretch drive, but I think the Cancel/Rice combination will be expecting this. I think this horse will be able to set the time fractions and just be too tough of a catch late. If I am wrong with that anticipation, then I like both (2) Nicky Scissors and (3) Holmdel Park to be running strongly late. I am thinking both of these horses will run a similar race and could be the closer that catches (6) Mia Bea Star. A bit of a price play in here for me is going to be the (7) Misty Taste who has been inconsistent in her short career, but coming into this one after an impressive win without having to exert too much energy. I like horses coming into a race after a winning performance and this horse could be ready for a repeat performance.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,7 w/ 2,3,6,7 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,3 w/ 2,3,6,7 Cost: $6.00
Race 5:
I really think that the firster in (6) Seahorse D'Oro is a horse to watch out for in this one. I think that Davis will be able to let this horse sit behind some reasonable fractions and have plenty left in the tank come stretch drive. (3) Enter Sandwoman is a must play on my ticket if she runs back to her last race. (4) Quiet Type keeps improving and the workout leading in makes me think this horse is ready to take a step forward in this drop down in class. (8) What MightaveBeen is my last play with Manny aboard in this one. This horse didn't do much running against a stronger field then this first time out, but we should expect improvement from this barn. I think Manny will be aggressive from the outside post in here and put this horse in contention early. Maybe others will allow this horse to find her footing early and that could be all she wrote.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,8 w/ 3,4,6,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 3,4,6,8 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 6:
(5) TWELFTH LABOUR will draw a lot of attention as Nevin claimed him two back and made a significant improvement next out. Now Carmouche gets the call to put him into the game early today and try to take them all the way. (7) NOT THAT BRADY has also improved for Rudy after some time off. Showed speed two back against much better, then, almost took them all the way last time. This guy was a talent a year or so ago and is looking to find that again. (2) BLOOD MOON is the wise guy pick for me. The 1M distance works better for him and will look for the lead early to try to steal it. Big bullet for this.
$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,5 w/ 2,5,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
The three favorites will take some beating here. (2) FOREVER CHANGED and (4) AWESOME DEBATE have been doing well recently and pose a problem for the rest of them. If the go early, that should set up the stalker or the closer. (3) GLASS CEILING will sit right behind the speeds and make a run coming into the stretch. Franco jumps aboard and is your most likely winner here. I can’t resist (8) DOVEY LOVEY who finally gets a dry track and a little speed to set her up. She gets in light again and wasn’t that far behind two of the above runners in her last two. I’m all in.
$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 2,3,4,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
(5) LOADED JOE may have an advantage with his speed. There doesn’t seem to be much of that in here. Castro must go and try to hold on. (6) PAINT MUSIC FOR ME shipped in last time and ran well for second. He’ll be short odds but a must use. What’s odd is that Franco jumps off to ride the Maker runner. (1) GRECIAN PHAROAH woke up last time when facing the level and that was a sprint. This guy probably wants more ground and sheds weight from the others. Klesaris is having a meet so it would be no surprise to see this guy getting his picture today. (8) LOREZEN wasn’t far from Joe and gets a positive jock switch for this. Expecting some improvement here.
