9 race card at Aqueduct today with three stake races and we will remain consistent with our pick 3 plays that cover the pick 6 sequence. I am trying to remain grounded after my cashed ticket yesterday, so props to me for remaining humble. I am going to key in on races 4-6 and Big Pete will focus in on races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve our bankroll. Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R4: 3, 5, 8
R5: 2, 3, 5
R6: 1, 3, 8, 11
Cost: $36.00
Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 1, 3, 5
R8: 2, 7, 8, 9
R9: 2, 3, 9, 11
Cost: $48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
I am going to give the nod to (3) Blu Grotto in this one. This is a pretty weak field and I think that the pedigree of this horse is set up for this mile distance. I am expecting a much bigger run with the class drop and should be able to take this one.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
I think Cancel feel asleep on (7) PLAYWRIGHT last time so Rice makes the switch to Manny here. He likes this track and Franco has a couple of wins with him. We’re looking for him to turn the table on Hardcore today.
$ 10.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
We’ll use him on top with (2) Deep Sea and (3) Hero’s Hope Underneath. Little Pete is adding (8) Scarf it Down
$ 5.00 Exacta 7 w/ 2, 3, 8 Cost $ 15.00
We’ll also use Playwright in R3 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
Both (3) Dovima and (5) Seaside Retreat look solid in the 4th. Will also include Little Pete's (8) Dance for the Gold.
$ 5.00 Double 7 w/ 3, 5, 8 Cost $ 15.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
This looks to be the field that (3) Dovima needed to break her maiden in here. This horse is a handful and if she runs her last race then I think she will get this one. With that said, I think that she will be forwardly placed and if she engages in an early pace battle then I would like some closers to come in. (5) Seaside Retreat is improving each time out and she could have a ground saving trip in here to compete for this one. (8) Dance for the Gold is a horse in here that I like traveling north here. I think that Manny will be able to let this filly break and find her footing early and should be able to map out a nice trip in here to compete late. I think this horse will be a relatively nice price and could come in strongly.
$5.00 WP 3 Cost: $10.00
$5.00 Ex 3 w/ 5,8 Cost: $10.00
$2.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 3,5,8 Cost: $8.00
Race 5:
(5) Chestertown is the horse to beat in here in his somewhat disappointing career to date. I do not trust him in this spot and will include in case he runs to his previous race, but just strange that he is getting dropped in for a tag right after some impressive performances in lower level stake races. (2) Six Percent is going to be my top pick in here with Manny aboard. I think that this horse is in great form and the closing ability is what will get it done in here. I think this horse will be the strongest running late and that is the kind of running style I think will take this one. (3) Pategory One is on a two race winning streak and looks to be in good form to handle this field. I think this horse has upset on his mind.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex 2 w/ 3,5 Cost: $6.00
$2.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 2,3,5 Cost: $8.00
Race 6:
Four horses to close in this competitive New York Stallion Series. (1) Gray Destiny is coming in after an impressive debut victory for the Clement barn and is ready to face winners. I think the post position is favorable to find a rail position early and save ground around the first turn and be able to have a convincing stretch drive. (3) Shanes Pretty Lady I think will improve third time out from looking at the workouts leading in and think the move to Rosario will allow the horse to save energy around the turn to sprint down the stretch. (8) Pop the Bubbly is horse that I really like in here to go off at a nice price. I think this horse will enjoy the cutback in distance and be able to show off some of the speed she possesses. (11) LaobanonaPrayer is headed into this one from Daniel Velazquez who won the Gr.2 Remsen yesterday and looks to have another live horse in here. This horse is the deserving favorite in here and a must play.
$3.00 WPS 8 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 8,11 w/ 1,3,8,11 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,3,8,11 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
(1) LADY NINJA has been off since Feb and ends up in Shug’s barn. She been keeping good company out west but the time off is concerning. We’ll include but look to beat her. (5) HONOR WAY beat similar in the P’Pie last time and did it rather easy. Jose bails and ends up on Ninja but Lezcano subs in. Both have a shot. I’ll swing for the fences here and endorse (3) BRIDLEWOOD CAT. She seems to like the Aqueduct oval and if there is any left over moisture, that’s a plus. Jr jumps off the likely outside speed threat to ride the Cat. Thomas gave her some time off and she rewarded him with a bullet last week. She looks primed for a big effort so I can’t pass on this 12:1 ML.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 1,3,5,6 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
We’ll have to start with (7) DREAMER’S DISEASE as this guy ran a respectable 6th in the BC Juv. Now he cuts back to the perfect 7F and will look to control right from the start. I can’t knock him and is a solid favorite to do that. (8) HOLD THE SALSA may make some noise late as he’s won at the distance and beat Brooklyn Strong in the process. He ran huge yesterday. He could be the main danger now that Uno’s out. (2) IT’S GRAVY gets Rosario who may try to wire this group. We’ll include.
$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 7,8 w/ 2,7,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
We close out this Pk3 with trainers trying to unload their turf horse for the winter in this MCL event. I’ll include the four I think can handle the dirt. (2) KARLEY O is a Liam’s Map who will try the dirt first time. She at least has gone this far and loses weight to the bug. A potential pace setter. (3) LEMONCELLA actually has dirt races in her pp’s that aren’t terrible. She may have found the right group to be competitive today.(9) HOT BUTTON will be every handicappers wise guy pick today because of her terrible start last time. But she’s still a grass horse trying a drier track today. She’ll take a lot of money which will help the odds on the real winner. (11) MIA CALIA will be big odds but she ran two 5th place finishes on two off the turf events, which this feels like even though it’s carded for dirt. Any one of these gals can wake up today, why not this one?
