We have an absolutely loaded 10 race card on Cigar Mile day. We are off the turf in the 7th and it looks to be a rainy day in Queens, so make sure to take note of that in your handicapping. We are going to remain consistent and attack a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the pick 6 sequence (Which has a $67,328 carryover). I will be focusing in on races 5-7 and Big Pete will have races 8-10 to breakdown. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we believe we can improve the bankroll on. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter at the bottom of the website to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 4, 5, 6

R6: 1, 3, 5

R7: 3, 5, 6, 12, 14, 15

Cost: $54.00

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 2, 10, 12

R9: 1, 3, 4

R10: 1, 6, 8

Cost: $27.00

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 1:

I am going to take a chance on a WPS on the Pletcher horse in here for the first race to try and increase the bankroll. (8) Cost Average had a rough showing first time out and I think that was a tune up race. I am expecting a big improvement second time out and this horse remains at the same level and some good workouts leading in. Think we can get a relatively nice price on this horse as well.

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

Race 4:

(3) Brooklyn Strong needs to be included with Big Pete's play below. I really like Rosario to have his patented run down late against this field and should be played with Big Pete's play.

$5.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,2,3,5 Cost: $30.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 4:

(1) PICKIN’ TIME shipped in last time and collared Ten for Ten late. I’m expecting the same thing here as they go longer and this Stay Thirsty should glide over this off going today. I like Lezcano taking the mount as well. I’m all in hoping for the 5:2 ML.

We’ll use her on top and two closers to pick up the pieces for our exacta.

(2) Known Agenda and (3) Brooklyn Strong

$ 7.00 Exacta 1 w/ 2, 3 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use Pickin’ Time in R4 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.

(4) Out First and (5) Summer Brew look solid in the 5th

$ 7.00 Double 1 w/ 4, 5 Cost $ 14.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

We start the ticket off with a competitive filly maiden special weight. I think that both (5) Summer Brew and (6) La Urbana are logical plays in here. Both horses have ran the best races to date and look to be on the verge of breaking their maiden and I think we must include them. With that said, I think there is some value in (4) Out First in this spot. I think this horse will improve second time out at this distance and had a nice workout leading in. I think that Lezcano will be aggressive with this horse early and that will pay off late.

$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 4,5,6 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

I felt similar in this race as I did the previous. (1) Nonna Madeline and (3) Sharp Shooter are the logical horses in here and a must play. I think that (1) Nonna Madeline will handle the wet track the best in here and deserves to be a short price come post time. I just want a horse in here that I believe will be stalking the pace and may be able to find a trip late down the stretch. That horse for me is going to be (5) Stand for the Flag. I think that Manny will be able to stalk the pace and if it breaks down late then I like him to have the best horse.

$3.00 Ex Box 1,3,5 Cost: $18.00

Race 7:

I am going to spread out here with the logical plays being to the outside. (14) Prairie Fire has the main track and the ability to handle the wet surface. This horse is going to be a tough beat and a must play for me. I really like (12) Sweet Kisses in this spot to show off some early speed in here on a sloppy track and possibly run on with this race being at 6 furlongs. (15) Jump for Joy ran a big race last time out in claiming company and taking a leap up here. If she can repeat that performance on a sloppy track in this one then she will be a strong contender here. (3) Wicked Amber is a horse that I would like to include to pull off a pretty big upset in here. I think this horse will enjoy the moisture in the ground and the move to dirt and run a big one in here. (5) Jara is a filly from Linda Rice who has ran okay on a muddy track against a weaker field, but I am anticipating Dylan Davis to not mess around in this one. This horse should be sent to the lead and set the pace to try and steal this one and will include in case she runs on with this one at 6 furlongs. (6) Mrs. S is a Todd Pletcher horse that possesses the speed and getting back to a sprinting distance. I think that this horse will be forwardly placed and be able to have the Rosario run down late.

$3.00 WPS 12 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 12,14 w/ 3,5,6,12,14,15 Cost: $24.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

Decent size field but not a lot to talk about as the American Pharoah filly (2) WASP, looks very strong here. Already has a race over an off track and the 1M hits her right between the eyes. A possible single for some, but I’ll not sold yet. (12) BLITCHTON LADY has hit the board in every dirt start. She gets Lezcano and won’t mind the slop. These are all positives for this gal to run a respectable race. The other I can’t pass on is the Central Banker (10) DESBORDES. She moves back in against NY Breds and has speed. If the off track is kind to speed, this filly can take them a long way a big odds.

$7.00 Ex 2 w/ 10,12 Cost: $14.00

$3.00 Ex 10,12 w/ 2,10,12 Cost: $12.00

Race 9:

Pletcher has another short priced favorite in this race too. (1) MALATHAAT destroyed her rivals in the Tempted last month and shows no sign of letting up. Johnny V returns and Mom ran well over her off track appearance. Curlin will get her the two turns so she’ll be awfully tough in here. I’ll include the two other Curlins in case the favorite stubs her toes. (3) MILLEFEUILLE will also like the two turns. Mott has a few bullet works spread out nicely for this. Rosario will sit chilly and come with a run late. The one I’m playing across the board is (4) MALIBU CURL ran well at the Spa and now returns off a brief vacation. The stretch out is the most appealing for this gal as she won’t mind stretching her legs.

$10.00 Ex 1 w/ 3,4 Cost: $20.00

$3.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 1,3,4 Cost: $12.00

Race 10:

Not the strongest Cigar IMO and I’m not a fan of the favorite (1) PERFORMER. I’ll use defensively but look for two others to come on top instead. I have to take a shot with (8) TRUE TIMBER. His Cigar mile last year would put him right there against this group. Shipped to Keeneland and ran lights out to grab 2nd. He’s looks sharp and the Mineshafts seem to handle the slop. (6) KING GUILLERMO is the new shooter as this 3yr tries his elders for the first time. He attracts Jose and is firing bullets in the morning. No one else stands out to me.

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 6,8 w/ 1,6,8 Cost: $12.00
