Aqueduct 12/13 Pick 3 Plays

We both are back to take down a pair of pick 3's today at Aqueduct. I will be keying in on races 4-6 and Big Pete will have his focus on races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
I love Rudy Rodriguez off the claim and expect this horse to either break her maiden or run a good second. I want to include her with another horse I like to improve in here with (8) Lucky Lindsay. I think that both of these horses will be charging late come stretch time and be able to catch up a lot of ground against this field. I am going to use (6) Yes Your Honor underneath them to be on the lead early and get past late. I also will include the firster in here who I think will be sent to the lead early and get caught late.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
I’ll steal a little of LITTLE PETE’s thunder and use one of his races as my play. Rude Awaking returned to run a big one facing better on Friday so I want (8) LOOKBOTHWAYS who almost ran her down last month. Carmouche returns for the re-ride and he has a couple of wins with this filly.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
Lezcano has been putting on a clinic out there and I think he will work out a perfect trip for (2) Risk Taking in here. This horse should improve second time out on dirt and I think the distance will suit this horse well late. (5) The Reds is another horse in here that I like stretching out and I think this horse is ascending at the moment and will get an aggressive ride in here. (6) Unbridled Honor will also get a play in here from me after the debut performance. I think Pletcher will have this horse ready for the distance and Manny always closes strongly. (7) Rock Sugar has Rosario going elsewhere and picking up Morales, but I think this horse is the Mott entry to take. This horse is trying dirt for the second time in his career and ran his best race on a sloppy track last time out. I think this horse runs a better race with a little more firmer surface and will be a tough horse in here.

Race 5:
(1) Gray Haze is my top pick in here who is in nice form coming into this and I am expecting a big one out of her. She found her distance and Cardenas will be able to stalk the lead and run on late with it. (9) FlashPackinBarbie also looks to be a strong player in here with the class drop. I think that Vargas will be aggressive early and challenge this lower level field to try and pass late. This horse has a chance to wire the field so a must play for me. (10) Grudge is a price play in here that I think is worth a shot. She is getting some class relief as well and ran a pretty good race on dirt last time out. This horse will be instructed to find the front early and that is always a nice place to be in these sprints. My last play will be Rosario aboard (7) Wicked Title.I do not love this horse in this spot, but the horse has ran two big races her last two times out and if she can repeat those performances on a little bit firmer surface than this horse could be the fastest horse late.

Race 6:
I am going to close the ticket with three horses. Two horses that I think will be sent to the early lead in here are (3) Cartwheel and (8) Awesome Alana. At this level it is difficult to trust a horse to run by the front runners, so I think both of these horses have a chance to duel it out throughout and run 1-2. I prefer (8) Awesome Alana who will be my top pick in here and should be able to handle this field well. My last play will be a late charging (5) JC's Shooting Star who looks to be in pretty good form for her age and this field does not scream speed and will be able to stalk throughout. That could lead to a trip to the winner's circle.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
(8) CHIEF KNOW IT ALL was dominating this level last winter, then, connections may have gotten too greedy. Moved him up several classes and he became ordinary. He’s shown “Flashes” of his old self in his last and now drops to where he belongs. Davis picks up the mount, so I’m expecting a big run today. (9) FLOWERS FOR LISA also was tackling better after his claim and now drops to a more manageable level. Cardenas is familiar with him so we’re also expecting a decent run from them as well. (4) GRIT AND GLORY may be tailing off a bit but most of his efforts in his pp’s would be good enough here. (2) OUTRAGEOUS BET is turf meant but the Courageous Cat’s can also handle the dirt and drops for this.

Race 8:
(4) FOXTAIL may end up on the lead again but we’re looking for Persisto to apply some pressure so we’ll try to beat her. (1) UJJAYI got on track late last time to just miss. I’m guessing she’ll be a little closer today and run the speeds down. The extra furlong won’t hurt. Following that move will be (7) INDY UNION. Not the cleanest of trip last time but still manage to come running through the stretch. She loses weight and breaks outside to avoid any bumping. I can’t pass on the odds and the 1M should work well for her.

Race 9:
We close out this Pk3 with closers as I’m anticipating a few speeds going at it. (2) CRUISING STRONG is my top choice. She faced much better before going on the shelf. She ran well in her return but got noticeably tired late. Cox should have her ready for a top effort. (14) LA NEGRITA exits the same race and closed to get 2nd. Rosario sticks around for this so we’re also expecting a good run. Manny’s first choice is (11) NICKY SCISSORS. She’s better at sprinting so the cut back here makes her dangerous. She doesn’t need the lead but will most likely get the first jump on the closers. (8) MIA BEA STARfaced winners for the first in her last and didn’t disappoint. Her maiden score two back will give this group a run for their money.
