We are going to stay consistent with ourselves and have our NY plays on opening day at Aqueduct. We will be keying in on a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the PK6 sequence. We will keep our eyes on the big races running at Keeneland today and provide a joint pick 4 play and may tweet out some plays. I will be focusing in on races 5-7 and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

Cost: $ 36.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
(11) GHOSTGHOSTGHOST ran well last time when she dropped in for a tag. They’ve been searching for turf and they finally found it. She’s bred to like the grass and Juarez is a good sub.
I’ll use with (5) Sandra’s Mine and (7) Running On Entry
$ 7.00 WPS 11 Cost $ 21.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
I am expecting (2) Princess in Charge to find the early lead and have some horses pursuing throughout. I will include the pace setter, but will also be looking for three horses to close strongly. (5) Mani Pedi is running back for a tag and should be able to handle the extra distance with a convincing stretch drive. (8) She's a Lumberjane is the price play here for me who I am going to hope that this horse is more forwardly placed early in this race and think recent form shows that this horse could sustain a big run against this field; I think worth a shot. Last play is the morning line favorite in (9) Chaysenbryn who looks good on paper here against this field. I think this horse will be able to pass tiring horses late and have a strong chance of hitting the wire first.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,9 w/ 2,4,8,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,8 w/ 2,4,8,9 Cost: $6.00
Race 6:
Experience does matter in these races, so will include the inside horse in (1) Summer Brew. We should expect a more "seasoned" run from this horse in here which could be all she needs. (2) DestinationWnrscir is going to be a tough call for Johnny I, but I think this horse has a chance first time out. I think the horse will take well to the dirt and the inside post will allow her to break free and find her footing early. (6) Teetotaler has the connections of Peter Brant and Chad Brown and the workouts are great. I like that Chad Brown is choosing dirt for this horse first time out and is a major player in here. Last play will be (10) Twelve Toes who I love the consistently strong workouts coming in. This horse should be instructed to find the early lead in here and that could be a winning spot if the inexperienced horses in here allow the horse to run on with this one.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 1,2,6,10 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 1,10 w/ 1,2,6,10 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
I will be closing in this claiming race with the three morning line favorites. (6) River Nile looks to be the horse to beat in here for me and will be my top play. I expect this horse to be able to handle the sprinting distance much better than she did the mile + races she ran. I expect an aggressive ride and going to be tough for the competition to handle. (7) Ringgood is coming in here with consistently okay races which does signal to me this horse does not really have the winning drive. David Donk is also extremely cold which is very intimidating to include. I will only be playing because of the level and consistent efforts this horse has put out. This could be the field she needs to break her maiden. (10) Empire Express is the morning line favorite that does not jump off the page, but the workouts leading in scream this horse needs the cutback in distance. We should expect to see a different horse on track this afternoon.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 6,7,10 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
Clement has a strong pair in here and I prefer the longer of the two. (1) HONEY PANTS is coming in with a strong maiden score that if she duplicates, she’ll be hard to catch. A clean break and an aggressive ride will make her tough. (7) MAGISTERIUM will attract a lot of attention. She’s exits a G3 but I’m not sold on the competition as Royal Approval was not a factor yesterday. (3) ILLEGAL SMILE is the closer I want. She’ll sit mid-pack and make the run through the stretch. May be a slight drop for her.
$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 3 w/ 1, 3, 7 Cost $ 12.00
Race 9:
(6) SHARP STARR may be your single if you’re looking to use the minimum for your bankroll. She returns to face fellow NY Breds and shortens up to a 1M. Both positive signs for this gal. They only other one that I’ll use is (8) BLITCHTON LADY. She’s faced winners twice now and didn’t disappoint. If the fav stubs her toe, this lady will offer a challenge late. Cancel is riding well so that will help. (9) KINKY SOX moves back to dirt and has run good enough to compete here.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 6, 8 w/ 6, 8, 9 Cost $ 12.00
Race 10:
(1) ROBIN SPARKLES has been lights out lately and will try to beat open company today. I’m not a fan of the rail draw and she should have company early. I’ll use but, try to beat her. (7) FETCHING fits for me. Should get to stalk the early heat and come with her strong kick late. I few get the 6:1 ML, I’m all in. (8) PURE WOW may be faster than Robin. If she’s allowed to set a slow pace, I don’t think they’ll catch her. I’ll also use Brown’s runner (3) ABUSE OF POWER as she’s lightly raced and you would think improvement is likely.
