We are looking to close the weekend with a pair of pick 3 hits at Aqueduct. I will be covering races 5-7, while Big Pete will be covering races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race that we would like to try and capitalize on with some vertical action. Make sure you subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 2, 6, 7

R6: 1, 2, 6, 7, 10

R7: 1, 5, 9

Cost: $45.00

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 1, 6, 8, 9

R9: 1, 3, 5, 7

R10: 7, 9, 12

Cost: $48.00

Race 6:

I think we will get a decent price on (1) Never Content in here with this crowded field and I am expecting a big race from this one. I will bump up the investment on the WPS on this horse and will use in some exacta plays.

$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1 w/ 2,6,7,10 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 1:

I have to give the old pro (1A) DOWSE’S BEACH one last shot here to get this W. He traveled out of town and delivered a thud as odds on. Now Maker brings him back and puts him in a spot that makes more sense. The other half of the entry will drive the price down but will help Beach by pressuring the pace. The 6F gives this 9yr old gelding more time to catch them. Castellano jumps on and he seems to like this course as he won the last time he was on it.

I’ll use w/ (6) Ian Glass and long shot (9) Outrageous Bet

$10.00 WPS 1A Cost: $30.00

$5.00 Ex 1 w/ 6,9 Cost: $10.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

On paper, this looks to be a two horse race to me between the rivals in (2) Control Group and (6) Flowers for Lisa. (2) Control Group has revenge on the brain after losing to (6) Flowers for Lisa two back and then came back in the following race to a three digit beyer speed at a mile and 1/16. With that said, I think the cutback is going to play significantly in here. I am anticipating both of these horses to have similar running styles of dueling early and trying to run away with this one. If that does happen then there will be an opening for a late closer to come in and steal this from them. That horse for me is going to be Rosario aboard (7) Malibu Pro. I think with a nice trip this horse can sit behind the early duel and challenge late.

$3.00 Ex Box 2,6,7 Cost: $18.00

Race 6:

This should be a highly competitive race, so I am going to go five deep in here. I really like (1) Never Content in here to improve from her first start and have a strong performance here. Luckily, we will also get the entry as well so really like that play here. (2) Jawhara is a firster from the Linda Rice barn I am going to include first time out. I think this horse will take well to the grass and should expect an aggressive ride throughout from Lezcano. (6) Linear Thinking looks to be another Chad Brown/Klaravich Stables horse that will run big time in here first time out. I cannot comfortably leave this horse off my ticket. (7) Candace O ran a big race on grass last month and Rosario has a strong horse in here that will improve late down the stretch; very dangerous. (10) Brynbella gets Jose Ortiz on the mount again and this horse improved second time out and the horse should be able to sustain a stronger drive in here.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 1,6,7 w/ 1,2,6,7,10 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

I am going to close with three in here starting with my top selection of (1) Vitesse. I really like this horse to either set the pace or be sitting right behind it. Charlie Marquez is a capable jockey and will allow this horse to find his footing early and run on with it late. (9) Beachside is the other horse in here that I think has the best chance to win this one in the low level company. Lezcano is a pro and these races do sometimes come down to the best jockey in the field and we are including him. My last play is a price that I think will be ridden aggressively early in (5) My Amanjena. I cannot find the early speed in here so landed on Joey Martinez to get this done. I think if this horse is able to set all of the pace fractions and get a bit of a head start come stretch time, then he has a chance to run on with this one.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

$3.00 Ex 1,9 w/ 1,5,9 Cost: $12.00

$2.00 Ex 5 w/ 1,9 Cost: $4.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(9) TALE OF THE UNION has two attempts at this level finishing 2nd in both against Leaky Cup & Foolish Ghost. There’s no one in here that matches up to those two. Johnny V returns and should give Baffert a rare NY Bred victory in this one. (1A) ZONIC is the one I’ll take a stab with. Since Noda’s claim, he has made steady improvement and gets a rabbet to target. (6) MORE GRAYFUL finished right behind Tale Of The Union last time and Cox convinced Rosario to return. They teamed up at the Spa to get the W with Gray. (8) POWER UP PAYNTER closed well after a rocky start last time. He gets his regular rider back for this.

$7.00 WPS 1/1A Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1,9 w/ 1,6,8,9 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

Only seven here but a quality field of fillies go at it. (1) SPEAKTOMEOFSUMMER has made every dance this summer and may have found the right spot dropping in from a G2. Clement recognized the lack of speed in here so he entered Faccio IO to help set up Rosario. (5) DUOPOLY was the main speed but, now should have company. If Irad can shake loose, they will be tough to reel in. (3) VIGILANTES WAY is who I’ll use across the board. She managed to close fast into the slow paced Hilltop and just missed getting to the classy Evil Lyn. She has speed to stay close so expect Johnny V to use it. (7) CRYSTALLE has yet to show us her summer ’19 form but her works are getting better and Jose shows up for the ride. She’s very interesting at this 8:1 ML.

$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,3,5,7 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

(7) DEVIOUS MO will likely go off the favorite. He has races that will likely win this. They tried turf last time, now switches back to 6.5F on the dirt. Should stalk and wear them down late The other is (9) DEE BO. He showed speed against better and Irad sticks around for the nightcap. If no one goes with this one, it may be over at the top of the stretch. Both look solid in the win column. We’ll try to get firster (12) PRINCE ORB to come late for a piece and (4) BOWING SNOWMAN to follow that move.

$7.00 WPS 7 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 7,9 w/ 4,7,9,12 Cost: $18.00
