Aqueduct 1/9 Pick 3 Plays

We have a nice 9 race card at Aqueduct today in which we are looking to take down a pair of pick 3 plays. I hit on Thursday and Big Pete hit on Friday which can only mean we both are going to have a day today. I will be looking to take down races 4-6 and Big Pete will be keying in on races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
Heavy favorite in here with (1) BustinMyGroove for logical reasons, but I think we can play off of the Rudy firster in here. I think that there will be a pace battle early to open up a lane for the outside horse in (8) Half Day Pam to run on with this one to either win it or place. Will hope we get relatively nice price on this horse and can hit a decent exacta.

Race 2:
The favorite takes a very suspicious drop in here and that is reason for concern. I’ll take a shot that Releasethethunder has some issues. (5) ABBAA must be tearing down the barn for Potts. This 10year old won easy late Nov and meets similar today. With Woodbine closed, the connections must feel that need to run him so they headed south. They also brought a rabbit, Diddley, with them to help set up his late kick.

We’ll use him on top with the two I mentioned for our exacta.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
This looks to be a competitive claiming race for 3 year olds. I am going to go four deep to start and lead off with the favorite in (3) ShesADirtyDancer. I think that this horse should be able to sustain a strong run in the front in this one and challenge horses behind her to pass late. (6) Betsy Blue is a firster in here who looks to be ready to win first time out, especially at this level. I think Lezcano will find a stalking position early and have a horse ready to roll come stretch drive. (8) Enter Sandman sold for $230K and had a relatively disappointing first start and should improve in this effort. This horse has been training consistently well and could have enough run left late to pass tiring horses. (9) Aurannian is a very interesting play here for me and I think will be sitting off the pace and hoping for a speed battle early. I think that this horse has a chance to pull off a small upset in here.

Race 5:
The two inside favorites look good in here and I think they will have the speed to run into so they will get a play for me. I think (1) New York Rock Star will run a stalking race in here and be able to set the rail position early from the post position. (2) Violent Point looks to be in great form right now and always love a horse coming in with some momentum from winning last time out. I am going to make my top play (4) Quietude who I think will benefit from (6) Lune Lake battling with those favorites early and opening up a lane for this closer who should be able to save ground throughout.

Race 6:
I will be going four deep in here with my top pick being (6) This Ill Defend. I think that Manny has the horse to beat in here and he will not mess around early in this one. This horse will be forwardly placed and it will take a late closer to pass this horse and that may be too tough of an ask. (2) Zuzudini is an interesting play in here for me as I think this horse may be for this course and be able to run a better race than the PP's show recently. This horse I think is worth a shot. (3) My First Grammy is a closer I like in here in case there is an early battle up front. I think this horse will be able to save ground around the turn and could be the fastest horse late. (5) Reticent is my last play here who ran a decent race first time out and should benefit from a further distance.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
Rice has a pair in here and both look the part.(8) SNEAKINESS will do just that by sitting just off the pace and waiting for a seem to sneak through. He’ll get first jump on the closers and try to hold on. The other one, (2) BEAVER CREEK, gets the stable rider and should be a little closer than last time as he got too far behind to make a difference late. (10) JAKE ROCKS doesn’t win often (1-18), but has back to back runs this winter that make him dangerous as Davis returns for another crack at it. (1) SIENA MAGIC will need some magic as he’s better than his last suggests. Look for him to rebound with a better effort today.

Race 8:
Her record doesn’t show it, but (3) MY ROXY GIRL had a very good year facing better mares through out it. The cut back to 6F is what this classy 6 year old needs. She should get first jump on the closers. The only speed I’ll use in here is (2) AWESOME DEBATE. She can go or sit right off the pace. The break will most likely decide that. Her last race came off a long layoff and she didn’t disappoint. (8) MISS JIMMY has had a solid year as well finishing 1st or 2nd 7 out of 8 tries. She’ll come late, we just need Luzzi to time it right. That’s a big ask, but Jimmy is in good form right now. (7) RUVIES IN TIME woke up vs NW1X and now faces NW2X. Now easy to do but she won rather easy last time. .

Race 9:
The entry will take a lot of play here and we’ll include, but there are others that I like better. (7) MANDATORY PAYOUT finished behind (1A) MAGNETRON last time and gets a second chance. Lezcano may want more speed out of this guy as there’s not a lot signed on. Englehart saw something he liked in (6) ORAZIO as he ships this one in off the claim from Woodbine. This Animal Kingdom won’t mind the distance and found the right group. I can’t resist the odds on (10) FRIED RICE KING. Davis finally puts this guy where he belongs and drops to this level. He’s been facing much better. His Spa win back on 8/30 would make him very tough in here.
