We have a nice 9 race card today at Aqueduct to begin 2021. We will be looking to take down a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the pick 6 sequence. I will be keyed in on races 4-6 and Big Pete will be focused on races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve the bankroll on. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.

I am going to try and cash in on the 20/1 morning line odds for (5) Dangerous Edge. I think this race will set up well for this horse and think that Cancel can get the nice trip in here needed for this horse. I will be using this horse in a WPS bet and an exacta.

$5.00 WPS 5 Cost: $15.00

$3.00 Ex 5 w/ 3,7,8 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 3,7,8 w/ 5 Cost: $6.00

Race 2:

Today’s 2nd race seems meant for the grass. So I’ll go with the filly who’s bred for dirt. (3) TINY MAGOO was making a run at the leaders when she dropped in for a tag last time, but evened out late. Maybe she didn’t like the slop. Davis returns and Miceli is off to a good start this meet. The others that have run don’t jump off the page so this is now or never for this gal.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

We’ll use her on top with the two first time starters for our exacta.

(2) Karla’s Dream and (4) Undetectable

$ 7.00 Exacta 3 w/ 2, 4 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use Tiny Magoo in R2 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.

(1) Potts Entry and (2) Tale Of Mist look solid in the 3rd

$ 7.00 Double 3 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00

Race 4:

(4) Afleeting Glance is going to be my top selection in here. I think this horse is going to be ready to run this time out after taking a two month break. I think that this horse will be forwardly placed and be able to sustain a big run late against this lower level field. I also like (7) Miss Moon Pie to run a similar race in here and think this horse will improve from this class drop. My last play will be a late closing (3) Roma Carpe who I think will be able to find her footing in this one and run on with it late at a relative price.

$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 3,4,7 Cost: $12.00

Race 5:

I am going with (5) Dangerous Edge to upset the field in this one. This horse looks to be in good form coming into this race and the bullet workout only leads me to believe in this horse more. I think that this race will be set up perfectly for a late closer and I think that Cancel can work that trip out. (3) Beachwalker is a horse that I like in here as well to sit right behind the early pace and have a chance to hit the wire first. (7) Tri Saint Lorenzo is coming in winning two in a row and taking a small step up in class and I think he will be able to compete to try and make it three in a row. In the slop I like to have forwardly placed horses and we know that will be the plan for this horse. (8) Our Country will be my last play from the outside after a very good performance last time out on dirt. I think this horse will be sitting a little off the lead and be ready to roll come stretch drive.

$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 3,5,7,8 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 3,7 w/ 3,5,7,8 Cost: $6.00

Race 6:

(4) Victory Built and (6) Spitball are two horses I love in here exiting the same race last time out. I think a similar performance in this one will get one of these horses in the winner's circle. (2) Montauk Daddy gets back to dirt sprinting and I think will be a tough contender in here with his speed. (10) Daring Disguise is another horse that has the early speed I like in these sprints and could sustain a big run in here and will need to be on my ticket.

$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 2,4,6,10 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 2,10 w/ 2,4,6,10 Cost: $6.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

Not sure we’ll get the 8:1 ML on Pletcher/Davis with (2) OBSESSED, but even half of that may be a bargain. He figures to have the lead to himself and with the inside draw and quick first turn, they may prove hard to reel in late. Both (3) VILLAINOUS and (8) EDGE OF FIRE have similar stalking styles but seem to come up short vs this level. I’ll use defensively but play for the place in here. I have to give (6) TWELTH MAN the nod in this one. They stretched him out for the first time earlier this month, and may have been asked to do too much coming from far back. Nevin gives Franco the keys and any left over moisture in the track will only help this Super Savor get over it.

$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 2,3,6,8 Cost: $18.00

Race 8:

Both favorites look the part but there is some wiggle room for an upset. (2) SWILL exits a G2 at CD but how strong was the competition? He regressed from his debut number and maybe he doesn’t want to go this far. (4) EAGLE ORD blitzed fellow NY Breds last time and now meets open company for the first time. He won’t mind stretching out so I prefer him of the two favorites. I’ll try to beat both with (1) CAPO KANE. He got to the front last time and never looked back. I like the rail draw and Davis figures to be aggressive with him. His Street Sense bloodlines will get him over this track with any left over moisture and Grandpa, Hard Spun, will carry him to the wire.

$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00

$5.00 Ex 1,4 w/ 1,2,4 Cost: $20.00

Race 9:

We’ll need to include (8) MOONSHINE MAKER as Breen and Lezcano team up here. Maybe he didn’t care for the track so all he has to do is Re-Pete his Oct 1st effort to beat these. The other logical one is (12) DUTCHMEN FOREVER. He has a couple of runs in his pp’s that would handle this group and drops slightly. The only problem is the layoff. Carmouche is a positive sign though, so he may be ready. I’ll take a shot here with a price. (4) LADY’S BOY was bet in his debut, but eased, then bet again vs open MCL last time. Mucho Sunshine won yesterday with a gutsy race and Lady’s Boy exits that same Dec 10th race and wasn't that far behind him. He moves back in against NY Breds and will be overlooked. (14) SAL MY PAL debuts for Rudy and Manny and doesn’t need to be much to beat this bunch.

$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,8 w/ 4,8,12,14 Cost: $18.00
