Belmont at the Big A: Saturday, 5/10 Plays - Pete's Picks

We have 11 races at Belmont at the Big A. The 6th & 8th are off the turf, but the two stake races remain on. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 6-8). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 9-11). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 4:

(7) ROCK THE WEEKEND has a thing for an off track. There must be left over moisture on this Aqueduct track with all the rain we had. There are several with speed and all of them should go. This will help set up the Rock to come charging home late. He's facing open company for the first time but there seems to be a lot of question marks with all these enterered.

I’ll use (3) Keewaydin and (6) Hero's Medal to fill in the place spot.

We’ll also use (7) Rock The Weekend in R4 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 9:

(4) LOVE CERVERE broke her maiden up here and wintered well down south, posting high-speed figures going long. The cutback looms large here for this trainer/jock combo. (3) DISCO STAR could be a star in this division. She moves back to the turf where her dad made a nice living. Expecting her to improve today. (6) ANNASCAUL has three solid races and now picks up Irad. Clement has two with a shot in here, and I'm expecting at least one of them to be right there. Maybe both.

Race 10:

(4) STERLING SILVER is coming in off a nice win on a similar track. The scratches help her chances. (11) HEADLINE NUMBERS stays in as her entry mate comes out. She will go early and try to bottom them out. If they leave her alone, she'll be tough on the front end. (9) GUN SONG gets Johnny V again. She danced with the big girls last year and held her own. She probably needed her last off the vacation, and her last two workouts jump off the page. I'm expecting a big run today and can't pass on this 8:1 ML.

Race 11:

(1) VASSIMO should save a ton of ground breaking from this 1 hole. Irad will sit chilly for most of it and let him loose late. (4) HILE ROAD is the one to beat IMO. Comes out of the BC Juvenile last year and ran behind two good ones in Tampa back in March. Now Prat takes the call and seems very live. The "other" Pletcher is (6) UNCAGED. He's the wild card. Lightly raced and unchallenged, but the longer, the better for this Curlin. Repole is looking for a Belmont runner, and he's going to find out today if it's this guy.
